Mother’s Day 2019 has come and gone and that means so has our annual spring campaign, MOVERS FOR MOMS®. With the love and support from our community partners around Evansville, we collected 2,000 items for Ruth’s House Women’s Center!
We want to give a huge shout out to the Buehler’s IGA for allowing us to hold our Stuff a Truck event at their E Morgan Ave location on May 4th! We had such an incredible turn out and amazing people help us with collecting essential care items for mothers in need this Mother’s Day.
We also want to recognize the wonderful organizations that let us host collection boxes at their locations. Those businesses were: First Bank (two locations), Just Stylin Salon, Holy Redeemer Church, and Ivy Tech! We could not have had the success we did this year without all of your INCREDIBLE help! We are so grateful to have such amazing people in our community, right here in Evansville!
Thank you so much to everyone who was in involved in some way, shape, or form during this years MOVERS FOR MOMS® campaign. We exceeded our goals and that was all thanks to YOU! We cannot wait for next year!
Congratulations to our February Brand Champion, Dalton! He was voted by his peers to hold the coveted title for the month! Since the beginning of the year, Dalton has received 16 reply cards with a 4.94 overall satisfaction rate and 100% referral from customers!
Dalton’s favorite Core Value is “Community”.
“Everybody needs somebody and I love feeling like I made somebody’s day better/easier for them!”
When we asked what the title “Brand Champion” meant to him, Dalton answered “Being all you can be for the company.”
Dalton’s favorite part about working for TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Evansville is his coworkers! A little fun fact about Dalton is that he LOVES to eat!
Enjoy your title, Dalton, you deserve it! Thank you for everything you do and always setting a great example for your coworkers!
We are so excited to announce the launch of our spring 2019 campaign, Movers for Moms®! What is Movers for Moms® you ask? Let us explain…
TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® locations across the country collect donations for women every spring and deliver them to local women’s and family shelters on or before Mother’s Day. Franchises partner with local shelters, schools, and other community organizations to collect goods that will make Mother’s Day special for moms living in shelters.
This year we are partnering with a wonderful organization called Ruth’s House. We have partnered with them in the years past and we have had nothing but success with them.
We have multiple incredible local organizations that will be partnering with us as a donation site. They will have collection boxes at their locations and will be ready to assist you with any donation you may have. Here is a list of our amazing donation sites this year!
First Bank: 7500 Eagle Crest Blvd Evansville, IN 47715
First Bank: 111 S. Red Bank Rd Evansville, IN 47712
We tend to post a lot about ourselves on the blog, but for this post we are switching things up and putting the focus on our wonderful customers! We were scrolling through our reviews and picked out a few that really stood out to us! With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, we are really feeling all of the love that our customers give us day in and day out. We would not be where we are today without the love that pours out from all of our incredible customers.
“John and Landon were very professional, personable and fast! They were friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond what I expected. They were both neatly groomed and tidy in their appearance. So, between the truck signage and their uniforms, I felt comfortable with them at once. I’ve, already, recommended your company. But, everyone’s already on board! I would, definitely, use your services again.” – Google User
“I hired TWO MEN AND A TRUCK to move my elderly parents. That was one of the best decisions I have ever made! From the first phone call to the follow-up, it could not have gone more smoothly. The two men were professional but friendly, and truly worked to make my family members less apprehensive on a long, stressful day. Without hesitation, I will recommend your company to anyone planning a move.” – Carol
“If I could provide a rating above excellent I would! Superb customer service, keeping me informed on the status of my move from MD to IN, addressing all questions and concerns, they were very careful with my items. Two Men and a Truck made what I thought would be a stressful move into a very pleasant experience!” – LaDonna
“Two Men and a Truck were excellent every step of the way. The crew was very polite and professional. They worked hard and handled my furniture with care. A supervisor even showed up during the move to check on things and ask me how everything was going. Jessica was easy to work with scheduling the move and also called me during the move to ask if everything was going ok. I highly recommend them for moving and would definitely use them again!” – Linda
“Donald and Jeff were just amazing, they did a great job of keeping us informed of what they were doing throughout the loading, traveling and unloading process, very courteous and friendly, my youngest daughter (7 year old) even asked them for a hug since they were taking such good care of her things and toys, overall a great experience (if that can be said about moving), Their friendliness and positive attitude made all the stress a more bearable situation, another big highlight was that the original assessment had been that we were going to need two trucks, David and Jeff did such a good job at packing everything in the truck that we ended up not needing the second truck, that gave us a HUGE deduction on the final bill. If we move again i will definitely be contacting them for assistance.” – Gerardo
“The two gentlemen you sent us exceeded our expectations. They were so kind and courteous, and handled our belongs with such care. It was always “Yes ma’am’s” when we were asked questions or directing them. Then to end the night, two other gentlemen showed up to help with the unload! We know they didn’t have to do that. This just really shows what type of work force your company has! We couldn’t have been more pleased! Thank you all so much!” – Shannon
These are just a select few of the dozens of great reviews that we receive on a daily basis. We would not have the success we do today without all of our amazing customers continuously giving us such charming reviews like these ones. We are shouting you all out this Valentine’s Day and we are just wondering one thing… will you be our Valentine? xoxo ❤
Okay, so we’ve all heard the phrase “new year, new you” probably a million times, right? You’re probably sick of people asking you “what’s your New Year’s resolution?” You aren’t alone. You don’t want to make a resolution that will just dissolve in a month or two. But what if that resolution was a new career? What if you could take on the opportunity to move yourself and others forward? This could be a resolution worth sticking to! The possibilities are endless here at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® and we want to help you move your career forward!
One of our main goals here at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® is to instill our Core Values on each and every person we make contact with. What are those Core Values you ask? They are:
Integrity – To always conduct oneself with honesty and fairness.
Give Back To The Community
THE GRANDMA RULE® – To treat everyone the way you would want your grandma to be treated.
Care – To have compassion for family, customers, co-workers and community.
Be Your Best And Have Fun – To be the best professionally and personally while enjoying life and having fun.
Inclusion – To welcome people from all backgrounds in the workplace and the community.
We live by these Core Values each and every day and we even start to notice ourselves fulfilling these outside of work as well! One of our favorite of the Core Values is definitely giving back to the community. We interact and participate in many different charities and foundations throughout the Evansville area. One of our company wide programs we run each year is called “Movers for Moms”. We also sponsor the Drumstick Dash in Evansville every year as well. The Drumstick Dash is a run/walk race to earn money for Gobbler Gathering that is put on by Evansville. ERM is a homeless shelter for men in our area. Starting in 2015, each year we donate a truck every day for a week to pick up food donations from business and churches all over the Tri-State and deliver to ERM. This food is for the Gobbler Gathering, which anyone in need will get a box of food that includes a turkey, veggies, corn bread, cake mix, etc.
These are just a few of the amazing events that we are apart of in our community and you could be too!
Starting your career here at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® could mean so many things to your career. There are multiple opportunities for advancement within the company and that all starts with you! 1/3 of TMAT’s franchisee’s have started as a mover/driver! How insane is that! Working with TMAT allows you to meet new people daily, immerse yourself in a diverse workplace, and gain muscle while working. What’s better than that?
If you’re interested in moving your career forward, give us a call at 812.401.7257 or visit our website to fill out an application!
You may not think about how your move affects the environment, but there are many factors that come into play that could be harming our planet! We are here to give you tips and tricks on how to make your next move a little more Eco-friendly! You’ll thank us later.
Donate or sell what you don’t need.
Consider taking items that you don’t need to a Goodwill or Salvation Army. Or if you’re looking to make a few bucks, have a garage/yard sale! This will create less trash and also help you recycle items you don’t need anymore once you move. When you have less stuff, you won’t need to purchase as many boxes, so it’s a win-win! And it might even help with your hoarding problem! (Only kidding…)
Plan for fewer trips back and forth.
Our trucks are all the same sizes (26 feet) here at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, so you won’t have any problems fitting (basically) your entire house in them! That way you only need to take one trip and emit less pollution into the air! Taking multiple trips can be very time consuming and also harmful to the environment!
Recycle boxes and packing supplies.
Did you know that we sell boxes and packing supplies? We do! If you are in need and decide to buy from us, recycle them! Don’t throw them away after your move. Pawn them off on friends or keep them in your basement for the next time you may need them! They also make great castles and forts… so we’ve heard. The same goes with the packing supplies. If they are salvageable, try and save them in one of the boxes! They have multiple uses that may not be just for moving purposes!
Don’t pack up your kitchen right away.
When you pack away all your kitchen items, this forces you to use plastic and paper products such as plates, silverware, and cups. This creates more trash than necessary and much more stress trying to run to the store to make sure you have a spoon to eat your soup. Leave enough plates and utensils to get you through the moving process. Along with leaving out a few kitchen essentials, take a look at what’s in your pantry. Instead of going out and buying food every week, use what you have! There’s a great website that you can enter in every item you have in your pantry/fridge and it will give you meal ideas! Now how cool is that?
Clean with non-toxic cleaning products.
It is essential to deep clean both homes during the moving process! Instead of dousing everything in bleach, try purchasing environmentally safe and non toxic cleaning supplies. There are tons of great options at grocery stores or you can make your own! Baking soda and vinegar are great cleaning tools. Or there are alternatives such as essential oils! Lemon essential oil is a great cleaning tool that will make everything smell extremely lemony fresh!
Check light bulbs and appliances in your new house.
When you finally make it to your new house, take a lap. When you are taking this lap, make mental note of the light bulbs that need to be changed to LED ones or any appliances that may not be energy efficient. This may seem like a timely (and costly) thing to do, but it will end up saving you big bucks in the end (and you’re helping save the environment while you’re at it)!
Pack healthy snacks for when you are on the road during your move! This will help your energy level and most importantly get you to skip the fast food joints! You may not have thought about the effects fast food has on the environment, from the packaging to factory farming! Eating delicious snacks/meals that you have prepared yourself is the way to go if you are looking to sustain a more Eco friendly move!
Here are some healthy quick and easy snack/meal ideas for when you’re on the road!
Fresh fruits and veggies. Spice things up with a variety of dipping options! (Greek yogurt, nut butter, hummus)
Homemade trail mix. Make this however you like! Throw in different options like raisins, nuts, banana chips, dark chocolate chips, or pretzels!
String cheese and jerky. These will keep your belly full and provide you with a great amount of protein to help you with your move!
Avocado BLT’s. Look for locally made bread at your grocery store. They tend to have less ingredients (and you’re supporting local!)
Greek wraps. Throw some hummus on a wrap with feta cheese, chicken, olives, and little bit of Greek dressing! These wraps will be better than any fried chicken sandwich you could get at a fast food joint!
Healthy drinks such as La Croix, coconut water, and just plain ole hydrating water!
Here at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK – Evansville we are consistently striving to make the stress of moving a thing of the past! Whether it’s just moving a couch to a different room or moving to an entirely different state, we are here to help!
This would not be possible without our incredible staff in the office, so we would like to introduce you to those wonderful people!
Keion is the Operations Manger at the Evansville location. He has been with TMAT for four years! Keion says that he loves all of TMAT’s Core Values but “Community” really stands out to him. He loves the atmosphere during the Holiday season when they help families receive food and gifts. “To see the smiles on the people of our community is priceless” he says, “In the summertime we work with a cancer survivor group on their big event as well. That’s what attracted me to this company overall.” His favorite part about working for TMAT is the personal growth that the system offers. “Our system is designed to challenge you and pull you up. It teaches you how to communicate effectively, how to deal with problems head on, how to organize and execute. I can go on and on but overall it helps you to become a better more effective and valuable person if you allow it to.”
When Keion is not at work he loves to big game hunt, attend community events, and read. He also thinks being a dad is awesome! A fun fact about Keion that not everyone may know is that he loves to golf!
Here in Evansville, Greg takes on the role of Manager. He has been with us since October of 2015! Greg’s favorite Core Value is “Community” because service work is important to him! Helping others helps him grow as a person and learn about the people around him. Greg says the fact that TMAT challenges him to be better each and every day is his favorite part about working for the company!
Outside of work, Greg enjoys watching college sports, NFL, MLB, and European soccer. He also likes getting outdoors and going on hikes! An exciting fun fact about Greg is that he travels to different concert venues to see the Dave Matthews Band perform! Can we tag along, please?!
Jessica is a CSR here in Evansville. She first started in 2015 and worked for two years until she took a six month hiatus from the company. She missed us so much she came back in August of 2017. When asked what her favorite Core Value was she responded, “I can’t say that I have just one favorite, but The Grandma Rule really resonates with me because I am extremely close to my grandmother. I would hope that everyone would show you the kindness and respect you would hope they show their grandmother.” Jessica’s favorite part of working for TMAT is the family atmosphere. “We are all a tight knit group and we are always doing things in the best interest of the family. My favorite is when we can all get together at our company functions and just enjoy spending time together.”
When Jessica is not at work you can catch her relaxing at home with her husband, Ben, and their two kids, Amberly and Jaxton. They also enjoy occasional window shopping. Her family loves when she decides to try out new recipes to bake new goodies! A fun fact not everyone may know about Jess is that she is obsessed with anything surgical. “I have always had a passion for the medical industry and have always been interested in learning more about the human body!”
Tricia also works in our office as a CSR. She has been with the TMAT family since 2010 and with the Evansville franchise since 2014. Tricia not only has one favorite Core Value, she has two! The first favorite Core Value is “The Grandma Rule” because her grandma was an amazing person. “I like the idea of treating everyone with the same love and respect as her.” Her second favorite Core Value is “Be Your Best and Have Fun because really, who doesn’t like to make the most of every day. Live life to the fullest!” Her favorite part about working for TMAT is also the atmosphere. “We are like one, big, slightly dysfunctional family. Plus, I love helping customers through a stressful and difficult stage of their lives.”
If Tricia isn’t lending her helping hands with customers you can catch her soaking up the sun and reading a good book outside with her dog, Ribbon. She also loves being outdoors, even in the winter. “On my days off I can usually be found on a hiking tail somewhere with Ribbon.” She also loves spending time with her family. A little fun tidbit about Tricia is that her life revolves around her dog and cat, Ribbon and Rosie! “The truth is, I am always covered in animal hair. In my house, it is worn as a fashion accessory!”
Rick is our In-Home Consultant. He has been with the company for 3.5 years. Rick’s favorite Core Value is The Grandma Rule because “I’m the Grandfather of Evansville and that’s how I like to be treated.” (We agree, Rick!) Rick’s favorite part about working for TMAT is getting out of the office and helping customers at their place of business or their homes.
When Rick isn’t out helping customers with their moves, he loves rescuing racing Greyhounds! How cool is that?! He also loves to dine out with friends and visit his grandchildren who live out of town! Rick also used to run four clothing stores for many years and knew Ralph Lauren when he was designing ties for Beau Brummel in Cincinnati!
It’s officially November, so you know what that means… Yep. W I N T E R. And we all know the magic four letter word that winter brings us.
I hate even having to type the word, but that white, fluffy stuff is inevitable! Mother Nature doesn’t slow down when you are planning to move, so here are a few tips and tricks that will make your winter move stress-free.
Constantly Check The Weather
Whether that be on your phone or on TV, make sure you are keeping up to date with all the weather changes that will be happening during your move. There is no limit to how many times you’ll want to check the weather. We all know how unpredictable the weather is in the Midwest, so you’ll want to be keeping up with it as much as you can. Start out checking it a couple weeks before your move and then vigorously watch it the week of your move. This will help you make the proper arrangements and accommodations for your move!
Have Sheets/Towels/Blankets On Hand
Melting snow gets messy. You don’t want your boxes, furniture, or other valuables getting muddy and wet from the melting snow! If moving boxes get wet, this could potentially rip the box and break your stuff. And that is no bueno! To prevent this from happening, make sure to grab some towels or old sheets to put boxes on and wipe them off in case they do get wet/dirty.
Hire A Baby/Pet Sitter
This might not be the first thing that comes to mind, but it is one of the most important. Your doors will be open for a long period of time and there will be a lot of bodies going in and out. You wouldn’t want your dog to escape out the door especially in the colder months! And making sure your children are safe is a big concern. Moving can be a stressful process, so hiring a sitter for your pets and children could definitely help take some of the stress out of it!
Turn The Heat Off
As mentioned before, while you’re moving the front door (and possibly more) will be open for long periods of time. The cold air will quickly sneak its way into your house and you don’t want those utilities bills to be outrageous in a house you won’t even be living in anymore! Another super helpful tip is to make sure you turn on your utilities a couple days in advance in your new house! Just to make sure it is nice and cozy warm the day you move in.
Double Pack Fragile Items & Keep Electronics Warm
Glass and other fragile items don’t like the cold weather! That includes electronics, as well. The cold air causes a lot of these items to become more brittle and susceptible to breaking/cracking. Double pack these fragile items to prevent them from easily breaking. Moving is stressful enough, you don’t want broken dishes or cell phone on top of it!
Do Not Pack Your Winter Essentials
Hats, coats, gloves, snowsuits, scarves, earmuffs, boots… you get the picture. DON’T pack these items away in boxes when you’re moving!!! You want to ensure you are going to have all the warm clothes you need in case something happens during your move. It would even be beneficial to store some extra warm clothing and blankets in your car as well! You can never be too prepared for disaster and this is a huge step to a successful and stress-free move!
And the most important tip of all…
TAKE A DEEP BREATH
Moving in winter can be stressful. Just take a step back and take a deep breath. Like Bob Marley says… “every little thing is gonna be alright”.
